What SPARK is all about
Play is at the core of what we do. SPARK invites you to interact with the exhibits – not just watch. It’s an immersive experience aimed at opening the minds of young learners to greater possibilities and learning by doing.
What they take away from SPARK helps build passions and critical skills and sparks imagination that lasts a lifetime.
Learning
We believe in bringing people together and involving children, families, and partners in the life of the museum and the community. Spark offers a place for young people to learn and grow through hands-on, interactive exhibits where they can touch, feel and ask questions.
Play
We believe that playtime is the rocket fuel of development – from childhood through adolescence. In its many forms, it connects fantasy and reality and brings children, as well as adults, together. As a strategy for learning, play intersects with the development of creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills in young people.
Health & Well Being
We believe that well-being creates a balance between the physical, social and emotional. Connecting with nature is one way we achieve this.
Cultural Connectedness
We believe in building awareness of and engaging with Rochester’s rich cultures in a spirit of openness and mutual respect to prepare individuals for an increasingly diverse world.
Community Engagement
